Lemons, Love, and Toddler Chaos: Bringing a Vision to Life
The park was glistening in soft sunlight. The birds were providing the soundtrack, and the setup was exactly what I’d been dreaming of for weeks: bright, fun, simple, yet captivating. I stood there, camera in hand, waiting for the mum and toddler duo who would help me bring the images in my head to life.
In my head I envisioned these bright pops of yellow, with soft, gorgeous dreamy moments of connection and love. I imagined big kisses, and long hugs and sweet moments mixed in with absolute joy.
The Reality of the "Smallest Model"
We started off slow, finding our rhythm. But as any parent knows, toddlers have a schedule of their own. Soon, our smallest model was off, radiating that toddler energy. Instead of fighting it, we leaned into it.
I had scattered lemons around the setup as part of the vision, and I realised almost immediately that I’d struck gold. Who knew lemons were the ultimate toddler toy? We used that playfulness to capture the genuine sweetness of the moment. There were no forced smiles here—just a child discovering the world and a mother’s eyes following every move with love.
The Parent Apology
By the time the energy ran out, I heard the familiar 'I’m so sorry he didn't cooperate.'
But I knew. I knew we had the magic. Not only did we get the photos, but we captured the exact dream I’ve been carrying for a month. I fell in love with every single frame.
And boy, did I get the photos.
These aren't just images; they are a reality check on how beautiful the messy parts of motherhood truly are.
Join Me Under the Sun
I hope to see you at the park soon. I want to capture this exact kind of magic for you. The kind that feels like sunshine and lemons and a love that never quits. Don't worry about "cooperation." Just bring your heart, and I’ll handle the rest.
I believe in this vision so much that I actually took the opportunity to jump in front of the lens with my own two girls recently. Looking at those photos now, I am in love. These are the memories I get to hold onto forever. I’ll always cherish the memory of those lemons, the fruit that, for a brief afternoon, became my toddler’s best friend.
